'Definitely': Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool are scouting £55m player who Ruben Amorim knows very well

Along with Ruben Amorim, Liverpool are looking for new signings this summer, and Fabrizio Romano has shed some light on one of their targets.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side have had a tough two weeks, haven’t they?

The Reds suffered a couple of setbacks in the Premier League, drawing at Manchester United and then suffering a 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace.

Then, Liverpool were knocked out of the Europa League by Atalanta, which leaves Klopp with just the Premier League title to fight for.

Irrespective of what happens over the next month, Liverpool will have a new manager this summer and they will likely sign a few new players as well.

Fabrizio Romano shares Liverpool transfer update about Goncalo Inacio

Liverpool have a solid squad at the moment, but they could do with reinforcements at the back.

Virgil van Dijk is not getting any younger, while Joel Matip is almost guaranteed to leave the club as a free agent when his contract expires this summer.

That leaves just Ibrahima Konate and Jarell Quansah at the back, but they are both right-footed options.

Liverpool are expected to be on the market for a left-footed centre-half, and they have been linked with quite a few names over the last months.

Sporting Lisbon star Goncalo Inacio is one of them, and reports have claimed that Ruben Amorim wants to bring him to Anfield if he becomes the next Liverpool manager.

Inacio, still only 22, is highly rated in Portugal and is destined to move to a bigger club very soon.

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Liverpool are ‘definitely’ scouting the £55 million defender and could make a move for him this summer.

When asked if Amorim becoming Liverpool manager can play a part in a move for Inacio, Romano told GiveMeSport: “Yeah, of course. Sporting have many quality players.

“I think Goncalo Inacio has been linked with a Liverpool move for about three or four years. So, he’s a player that they’ll definitely be scouting.

“Liverpool know that finding left-footed centre-backs on the market is not easy. This is why Inacio is appreciated. He’s one of the best left-footed centre-backs on the market. So, this is why Liverpool have been following him for a long time.”

The latest update on Ruben Amorim to Liverpool

It seems clear now that Ruben Amorim is the favourite to become the next Liverpool manager.

Xabi Alonso has made it clear that he will not be moving, while Roberto De Zerbi is no longer in contention for the Reds job.

Amorim seems like the man, and Liverpool have offered him a three-year contract to convince him to leave Sporting Lisbon and move to Anfield.

In what is good news for Liverpool fans, an update this week has revealed that Amorim is ‘eager’ to accept the offer he has received from FSG and is now ready to move to Merseyside this summer.

However, Sporting’s president Federico Varandas is still hoping to keep Amorim for at least another year, which complicates things for Liverpool.

As things stand, however, nothing is confirmed, and it will be interesting to see what will happen once the Portuguese league campaign comes to an end. Sporting are on the verge of winning it.
