Greece aims to develop an air defense system similar to Israel's Iron Dome, aimed at protecting the country from aerial threats, stated Defense Minister Nikos Dendias.

According to him, the Israeli air defense system demonstrated high capabilities in intercepting aerial targets, including drones and cruise missiles.

He added that this decision was made after Iran's missile strike on Israeli territory, where systems of this type showed high precision.

"The nation must shield itself… Examining the conflict in Ukraine, we have concluded that it is imperative to construct an anti-aircraft and anti-drone dome," Dendias said.

On the night of April 14, Iran attacked Israeli territory with hundreds of drones and missiles. The IDF reports that almost all of them were shot down, and Israel officially referred to the damage from the attack as insignificant.

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that it is impossible to build the same missile defense system for Ukraine as in Israel.
