US Secretary of State Antony Blinken criticized China's support for the Russian defense industry, stating that Beijing is currently making a significant contribution to Moscow's war in Ukraine by supplying critically important components for weaponry, as reported by Reuters.

He said that this effort was fueling "the biggest threat to European security since the end of the Cold War."

"When it comes to Russia's defense industrial base, the primary contributor in this moment to that is China. We see China sharing machine tools, semiconductors, other dual-use items that have helped Russia rebuild the defense industrial base," Blinken said.

Blinken added that Washington has made it clear to Beijing and others that they should not assist Russia in the war in Ukraine.

"China can't have it both ways. It can't afford that. You want to have positive, friendly relations with countries in Europe, and at the same time, you are fueling the biggest threat to European security since the end of the Cold War," the Secretary of State said.

China helps Russia

The EU says that China is supplying Russia with dual-use goods for weapons production, and such supplies may increase in the future.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will pay a visit to China on Tuesday, April 23.
