West Ham in pole position for Sarri, report names 2 players he immediately wants to sign for us

West Ham United and Newcastle United are both keen to appoint Maurizio Sarri at the end of the season.

It was claimed yesterday that West Ham could part ways with David Moyes this summer, and have actually already offered a contract to the currently out-of-work Maurizio Sarri.

Whilst Newcastle are in the race for the 65-year-old’s signature as well, the Hammers are believed to be in pole position to win the race for his services.

And now, it has been suggested that the Italian wants to bring two specific players to the London Stadium with him…

Moyes has done a fantastic job at West Ham, but his time in charge at the London Stadium just feels like it has come to an end.

In fairness to the Scot, his win percentages in all competitions have been pretty impressive over the past four-and-a-half years…

The Scot has taken us from relegation contenders to perennial European qualifiers. However, his limitations are clear for all to see.

We need a manager who implements a more progressive playing style to take us on to another level yet again.

And it seems like Sarri could be the man for the job…

With the Hammers leading the race for the former Chelsea boss, a new claim has been made today about some potential signings he wants to make for us.

The Italian is well know for the beautifully intricate football that he implements. Sarri-ball would be a real treat for the West Ham fans.

But which players does the 65-year-old want to bring along with him to the London Stadium?

According to Area Napoli, Sarri wants to bring Alessio Romagnoli and Matteo Guendouzi to West Ham, if he does indeed become the new Hammers boss.

The Italian centre-back, 29, and the French midfielder, 25, are both currently playing for Lazio.

Whilst I think Romagnoli would be a decent signing for us, and a big upgrade on Nayef Aguerd, I wouldn’t want us to go anywhere near Guendouzi.

The former Arsenal man has caused problems wherever he’s been, and I think we should be aiming a lot higher in our summer recruitment.

That said, if West Ham do appoint Maurizio Sarri, and those are the two players he wants to sign first, then we will have to trust him.
