Lucas Paqueta makes it very clear who West Ham's best player is in his mind

Lucas Paqueta has just made it very clear just how highly he rates one of his West Ham United teammates.

West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been brilliant for us this season, although his no-show at the London Stadium on Thursday night soured the Hammers fans’ perception of him.

That said, the 26-year-old will still be a vital player for David Moyes between now and the end of the season.

If we are to finish inside the top seven, the Brazilian star needs to be on his very best form over the course of the next month or so.

It’s not all about Paqueta though. West Ham have plenty of other players who are truly top-class. A lot of them rose to the occasion against Leverkusen in the former Lyon man’s absence.

Everyone has to play their part for us now, and the South American star has shared just how highly he rates one of his teammates in particular…

Lucas Paqueta on West Ham United’s best player

The Brazilian star has excelled when playing alongside Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus for the Hammers this season.

However, it was another West Ham player who Paqueta raved about when speaking to the club’s official website today.

The 26-year-old Hammers ace said:

“It is very good to play with Emerson. He knows exactly how I play and knows my body language so that helps a lot in the sense of helping us connect well on the pitch. We played at Lyon together as well, even though we were not as good friends as we are today, but we understood each other. It’s good to have a player like him because we don’t just help one another, we help the team as well. We have a great relationship outside of the pitch as well and we are like family.”

He’s right, Emerson Palmieri is an exceptional player, and has been fantastic for us this season.

The link-up play between the Italy and Brazil internationals has been quite brilliant to watch.

Lucas Paqueta linking up with Emerson down West Ham United’s left hand side this season has caused our opponents all sorts of problems.

And long may that continue.
