‘Not sold’: Troy Deeney says he’s still really not sure about £30m Arsenal player’s ability

Arsenal have been fantastic for most of this season, but a small dip in form in recent weeks has led to some serious questions about the Gunners.

Indeed, Arsenal have failed to win any of their last three games, and, as you may imagine, that’s led to a bit of an inquest at the Emirates.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Troy Deeney has been dissecting Arsenal and why they may well fall short this season, and he’s pointed towards one player in particular that he’s not sure about.

Troy Deeney not sold on Arsenal star

Deeney spoke about David Raya, claiming that he’s not overly sold on the Spaniard.

“I am still not sold on the goalie. I am not. I don’t see… I know they wanted to get rid of Ramsdale, or have competition is the word they say when they want to replace him, but I don’t think they replaced him with the standout goalie where you go, ‘Oh, that’s my goalie for the next four, five six years. Do you get what I mean?

“I think in a year’s time, they will be looking at Raya and going, ‘Is he the reason we can get over the line or not?’ Because he has made a few mistakes this year similarly to what Ramsdale did.”

David Raya has been solid

We’re not too sure we agree with Deeney here.

Yes, Raya hasn’t been as transformative a signing as someone like Alisson was at Liverpool or Ederson at Manchester City, but he’s not been a problem player either.

The Spaniard has been as solid as you could possibly ask him to be, and we’re not going to unnecessarily dig him out for what has been a very good season.

Arsenal might not win the league this season, but that isn’t necessarily down to the £30m man.
