Wolves attacker Hwang Hee-chan has said that he is very surprised at how good one Manchester City player has been in recent years.
Having played for the Midlands club since the 2021 summer transfer window, the 28-year-old has faced off against numerous opponents during his time with the Old Gold.
Now though, the South Korean has shared his thoughts on one particular player he has not only played against in the Premier League, but also shared a dressing room before his move to England.
Hwang says he can’t believe what one Man City player has been doing
Speaking in a recent interview with The Times, Hwang had this to say about Erling Haaland.
He said: “I learnt so many things when we were together in Salzburg. He is younger than me but I learned from him a lot.
When asked if he has asked Haaland for any tips on how to score goals, Hwang said this.
“No, no tips. But I have asked him what he eats and how he scores so many goals. He scored a lot in Austria but I didn’t expect it in the Bundesliga or Premier League straightaway.
“Now he is becoming the best player in the world.”
During their time together at Salzburg in the 2019/20 season, the duo featured in 17 matches together and racked up 11 joint goal participations, with Hwang scoring one goal assisted by Haaland and the Norwegian scoring 10 goals assisted by the current Wolves star.
Erling Haaland has been a top goalscorer for several years now
After leaving Salzburg in the 2020 January transfer window to join Borussia Dortmund, Haaland scored 86 goals in 89 appearances across all competitions.
In the 2022 summer transfer window, the 23-year-old joined City in a deal worth £51m.
Having made 53 appearances across his debut season at the Etihad Stadium, Haaland scored 52 goals, broke numerous records and won the Treble.
Taking all of that into account, it’s easy to see why Hwang has been so impressed by what he’s seen from Haaland since their time together in Austria.
