Numerous talented running backs have made their way to Austin, Texas to play college football over the years.

The Longhorns are trying to convince another to do just that.

Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist four-star running back James Simon was on campus at Texas for the Longhorns’ spring game this weekend. Simon has visited Austin three times, including for the Horns’ junior day earlier this year.

Relationships are a key reason why Simon keeps returning to UT.

“My relationship with (Tashard) Choice and coach (Steve) Sark(isian) and their talks I have each time I come,” Simon told On3’s Chad Simmons about why he visits Texas.

Talks with the staff stood out about this most recent visit.

“What stood out was my talk with Choice and Brandon Harris,” Simon said. “As well as coach Sark and getting to see how the team is offensively.”

Simon said that UT is a “top school” for him and one he has a “high interest” in.

“Their message is I’m a game changer and different,” Simon said. “That’s why they need me and feel like they can develop me best, as well as me help them win a national championship.”

Simon has a Texas official visit set for June 21-23. He thinks that he could make a decision sometime this summer and definitely before his senior season.
