“Cue 4-0 Rangers” - PLZ pundit backtracks on Hearts Rangers meltdown claims

It’s rare you find ex-Hibs striker Tam McManus saying something positive about Rangers, never mind Hearts.

The outspoken pundit has riled a few Ibrox feathers over the years between his activity on Twitter and punditry on the likes of PLZ Soccer.

But whilst in his heart Tam McManus is very much a Hibee, the former Easter Road forward is backing Hearts to upset the Rangers apple cart even further with Scottish Cup victory.

Tam McManus: Hearts to send Rangers into meltdown

Speaking on PLZ Soccer, Tam McManus was asked his opinion on Rangers against Hearts in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

With Celtic already booking their place at Hampden after a controversial penalty kicks win over Aberdeen, the striker claims the smart-money is on the Jambos.

What’s more, when asked if a negative result for Rangers will see the roof cave in at Ibrox, McManus appears adamant all hell is about to break loose.

“I think Hearts have got the players,” said McManus. “Semi-final, all the pressure on Rangers.

“Rangers are under massive pressure after the last two performances. Absolutely (all hell breaks loose if Rangers lose).

“I think that the last two games have seen the league in my opinion slip away and if they get put out of the cup then they’ve only got a League Cup to show for the season, which is not enough for Rangers.

“I think if Hearts score first it’ll be interesting to see if the Rangers players want the ball. Do they hide? It’s a big pressure situation, the Rangers fans will get on their backs again.

“I think with Lawrence Shankland, guys like that in the team at Hearts, I think Hearts might sneak it.

“I’m going to stick my neck out and say I think Hearts might nick this in extra time or penalties, I think it’ll go all the way.”

McManus admits he “might be completely wrong”

Tam McManus did appear to play it safe after these comments however.

Claiming that he “might be completely wrong”, the ex-Hibs striker took to social media platform X to respond amid reaction to the comments.

Saying that he can’t believe Hearts are such long odds with the bookmakers, Tam McManus suggested Rangers will probably go on to win 4-0.

Whether or not Tam McManus’ prediction comes to fruition will really depend on how the Rangers team reacts against Hearts.

With the club’s title tilt hanging by a thread, Philippe Clement claiming Rangers might need to be perfect to win the Scottish Premiership, another trophy hangs in the balance.
