‘He’s a little magician’: Mikel Arteta left blown away by £27m Arsenal player vs Wolves

Mikel Arteta has singled out one Arsenal player for praise following a crucial win at Wolves on Saturday evening.

Arsenal got back to winning ways with a dominant performance at Molineux.

It’s been a difficult week for the Gunners following defeats to Aston Villa and Bayern Munich. But with Manchester City involved in an FA Cup semi-final yesterday, Arsenal moved to the top of the Premier League thanks to a 2-0 victory in the Midlands.

Mikel Arteta’s were good value for the three points as goals from Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard sealed a crucial win.

Trossard produced an exceptional finish on the stroke of halftime after Gabriel Jesus held the ball up brilliantly in the area.

The Belgian rifled his effort into the top corner off the inside of the post and after a composed second-half display, Odegaard wrapped things up with a well-taken finish in the 95th minute.

Speaking to the media following last night’s win, Arteta heaped praise on Trossard after yet another brilliant performance.

“He’s a little magician,” the Arsenal boss said. “He can score on any surface and he’s a big threat; so composed, so cool, he can play in different positions.

“It’s just a joy to have him in the team.”

It’s fair to say that Trossard missing out in Munich during the week came as a surprise and Gabriel Martinelli struggled on the night.

Trossard has proven to be a reliable option for Arteta and continues to provide in the final third.

Martin Keown labelled the £27 million man a ‘revelation’ following the win at Molineux as his goal helped Arsenal get their title hopes back on track.

Trossard’s stats vs Wolves

Trossard has popped up with some important goals for Arsenal this season and his finish yesterday was no different.

The 29-year-old netted from the edge of the area with a shot that was worth just 0.07 xG.

He completed 72 minutes on the night before being replaced by Martinelli.

Trossard completed 18 of his 24 passes against Wolves while also making one key pass.

While he wasn’t heavily involved before being taken off, Trossard provided at a crucial moment for Arsenal as he has done on so many occasions this term.
