"I stand with the speaker," is what former President Donald Trump said about Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) during a press conference last week.

Johnson faces threats of removal by a few hardliner House Republicans — especially Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) – over his agreement to approve the $60 billion bipartisan package to aid Ukraine in its fight against Russia.

For months, the speaker refused to moved the US Senate approved bill forward in an effort to appease his far-right colleagues, but on Saturday, he finally brought the foreign aid package to the House floor, successfully passing the bill.

Still, 112 Republicans voted against it.

According to a Sunday, April 21 Daily Beast report, despite Trump's declaration of support for the speaker, "Johnson, who’s long been a loyal Trump soldier, needs his help now more than ever."

However, two Trumpworld sources told the Beast that "there’s a brutal truth for Johnson that’s becoming increasingly clear: Trump isn’t coming to his rescue."

"If anyone is going to save Johnson, it’s Democrats," they maintained.

"There were a few of us that were still going to bat for him and defending him," one source said. "I don’t know a single person that will defend him after this complete and stunning surrender. We’re obviously not going to get everything we want with a slim majority in the House. But there’s not a single thing he can point to in these bills that resembles a Republican win. He got nothing. He got rolled."

Another source said, "Johnson has already gotten everything he should expect to get from Trump. It’s not Trump’s job to save his a** because he can’t manage his caucus."
