Ineos target relegated to fourth tier as Manchester United reportedly lead race for 'exciting' teenager

Manchester United won’t be forming clear transfer plans until knowing exactly who will be at the club next season.

Ineos have come on board and there are so many questions surrounding the club and who exactly will be making key decisions.

Dan Ashworth is being lined up to become United’s sporting director but prising him away from Newcastle United has been tricky.

Jason Wilcox is at least on board now having completed his move from Southampton, becoming United’s technical director with immediate effect.

A new CEO is already on board with Omar Berrada agreeing to join from Manchester City, with United landing experienced operators in top positions.

There is a big decision looming over Erik ten Hag’s future as the United manager clings onto this job after a disappointing campaign.

United’s key targets for the summer transfer window are no doubt still being identified but a few names have already been mentioned.

Manchester United target Baylee Dipepa relegated

Fans will want to see significant signings arrive but United are believed to be targeting an EFL youngster this summer.

Reports in March suggested that United were leading the race to sign Port Vale teenager Baylee Dipepa.

Dipepa has broke into the Port Vale side this season and has already bagged three goals in three games for the England Under-17’s.

The young forward has shown real potential and has been dubbed an ‘exciting talent’ by former Port Vale director of football David Flitcroft.

Dipepa scored a stunning goal against Exeter City just last weekend, waltzing past a number of defender before finding the net.

Sadly, it wasn’t enough to keep Port Vale in League One and their relegation to League Two was confirmed with a 2-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Dipepa is now heading to the fourth tier but Port Vale’s relegation may just leave United feeling that there is a deal to be done.

Vale will lose revenue from that relegation and United could even try and land Dipepa for cheaper than first expected.

Ineos to target prospects

The report from the Dipepa rumours suggested that Ineos had instructed United scouts to be well-informed on the top young English talents around.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos seemingly want to make sure that United are at least in the mix for homegrown talents moving forward.

Too many top talents have joined Premier League rivals in recent times and Ineos will want to make sure that this doesn’t continue.

Dipepa may fit the bill and United will be well aware of Port Vale’s situation after Saturday’s defeat.

Names like Michael Olise, Jarrad Branthwaite and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have been mentioned in recent months but United could also focus on even younger players – such as Dipepa
