'He's never satisfied': Rasmus Hojlund says Man City have a player who has a very special mentality

Rasmus Hojlund has admitted that a certain Manchester City player has a special mentality.

In fairness, the Manchester United striker’s claim could be attributed to most City players.

For instance, Bernardo Silva.

After Manchester City’s 1-0 victory against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final, the Portuguese international admitted that he felt pain in his calf and left hamstring during the game.

Yet, the £43 million man did not ask to come off against Mauricio Pochettino’s side on Saturday.

Instead, the versatile attacker dug in and scored a late goal to prove why he remains a consistent difference-maker in big games.

Rasmus Hojlund says one Man City player has a special mentality

Similarly, Rodri is also similar to Bernardo Silva in this respect.

Recently, the Spanish international made headlines by publicly admitting he was tired and needed a rest, prompting sympathy and criticism from fans and pundits alike.

However, the 27-year-old has put his head down and focused on all things City, playing yet another full game against Chelsea after playing until 120 minutes against Real Madrid.

After the contest at Wembley Stadium,Pep Guardiola hailed his countryman for his remarkable professionalism.

One player having an elite mindset is not enough for a team to win trophies.

Such a way of thinking must be spread across the entire squad as well as the staff to create a world-class footballing institution.

Before discussing how he thinks Erling Haaland has a mentality that stands out about him, Rasmus Hojlund dubbed him as the greatest Scandinavian player to have ever played in the Premier League.

“It has to be Erling. Erling Haaland. I think he’s doing great and what he did last season, this season as well is incredible. I’d like to mention [Alexander] Isak as well, he’s doing very good in Newcastle but there’s a lot of great players.”

“You can see that the Scandinavians are becoming better and better and you can see our talent inside our countries is producing more and more. But if I have to name one, it has to be Erling”, he told Sky Sports.

Hojlund mentioned Haaland’s mentality on what he views as special about him, saying, “I think his mentality is probably the thing. He’s very hungry always for scoring goals and he’s never satisfied, we saw that many times last season and this season as well so yeah, he’s a top striker.”

Haaland will need to tap into the mentality Hojlund mentioned for years

Rasmus Hojlund makes a fair point about Erling Haaland, who in our view must tap into his special mentality throughout the rest of his career.

Regardless of whether Haaland is in goalscoring form or not, it seems that his style of play will always demand doubts from the outside world.

Of course, step one for the Norwegian is to look within and keep improving but most importantly, his drive to constantly score goals must always be a part of his mindset that he will always need.

The best way for any striker to shut their critics up is by scoring goals, which Erling Haaland has done from the very start of his career; making him tough to criticise too harshly.

As question marks continue to follow him, Haaland must show Hojlund and other young strikers that the best way to respond to criticism is by always being hungry to score goals and doing so as well.
