Manchester United made a right meal of it

It was a game that Manchester United fans could sit back and enjoy – for around 70 minutes. The Red Devils were absolutely breezing at 3-0.

First-half goals from Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire put United in a great position before Bruno Fernandes made it three in the second half.

Then Coventry replied. Ellis Simms got the first, then a Callum O’Hare deflection made it two before a Haji Wright penalty made it 3-3. It was then in the 120th minute that Victor Torp scored to win the game and secure a famous Coventry comeback. Or so we thought, that was chalked off and penalties loomed…

Penalty shootout drama ends

Casemiro got United off to a disastrous start. His tame effort was saved which set to tone for the rest of the shootout.

But then Andre Onana‘s save turned it around and got things level again. Ben Sheaf missed completely, meaning United were a kick away from the win.

Rasmus Hojlund scored, to send United to a second consecutive FA Cup Final.

Erik ten Hag gets substitutions wrong… again

Erik ten Hag, as he’s done many times this season, got the substitutions wrong.

Taking off Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho ultimately led to the Sky Blues comeback, and left United’s side looking entirely weaker.

It was a mistake that he should definitely acknowledge and think twice about in the future. That is if he does have one at United.

Manchester United’s season is still alive

If United didn’t advance today, that would’ve been curtains on the season.

With no hope of a cup and an unlikely shot at a Champions League spot, there would’ve been nothing for United fans to cheer about for the remainder of the campaign.

It also means that, no matter what happens to him, Ten Hag can make amends…

Erik ten Hag gets shot at redemption

United face their noisy neighbours Manchester City in the FA Cup Final. Deja Vu is in full swing here.

Last season, Manchester United did not turn up and gifted City a win at Wembley which contributed to their elusive treble.

Ten Hag and his players will try everything in their power to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself. Come on United.
