‘Sublime’: Gary Neville left stunned by one Liverpool player’s passing vs Fulham today

Gary Neville was amazed by one Liverpool player’s passing at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.

Off the backof a disappointing defeat at home to Crystal Palace last weekend, the pressure was on for Liverpool to pick up three points today.

Arsenal got the job done at Wolves on Saturday evening and moved to the top of the Premier League table.

Liverpool enjoyed a fast start at Fulham and created a huge opportunity within two minutes.

The chance fell to Luis Diaz after a well-worked corner led to Trent Alexander-Arnold delivering an inch-perfect ball into the box.

Diaz was unable to convert his header on target as his effort flashed just wide of Bernd Leno’s goal.

And just a few minutes into the game, Gary Neville was already waxing lyrical about one Liverpool star.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville singled out Alexander-Arnold for praise after the 25-year-old’s passing range was on full display early in the game.

The Liverpool star produced a brilliant cross-field switch to Diaz in the second minute, which led to a corner for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“The pass to start that move off was sublime from Trent Alexander-Arnold,” Neville said. “A driven, faded, 60-yard delivery to Luis Diaz, who plays a lovely pass into Diogo Jota.”

The corner led to Trent delivering an inch-perfect ball into Diaz, who steered his header just wide.

Neville added: “The delivery is spectacular, you wouldn’t expect anything else.”

Alexander-Arnold capped off a brilliant first-half display with a goal just after the half-hour mark.

The full-back netted with an exceptional free-kick from range as he beat the Fulham wall and found the top corner.

Despite a dominant first-half performance, Klopp’s side headed into the break on level terms after a Timothy Castagne leveller.

The Fulham man struck just before halftime, leaving Liverpool with it all to do in the second half.

Ryan Gravenberch restored their lead just eight minutes into the second period with a brilliant finish from range.

It’s fair to say that the Dutchman wasn’t enjoying his best afternoon up until that point but his effort proved to be crucial for Liverpool.

Diogo Jota then handed his side a much-needed two-goal cushion with a neat finish in the 72nd minute following some good work from Cody Gakpo.
