Nuno Espirito Santo shares if he has ill-feeling towards one Everton player after Nottingham Forest VAR drama

Nuno Espirito Santo has been speaking to the press after Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday.

Goals from Dwight McNeil and Idrissa Gana Gueye saw the Toffees to a much-need three points after Monday’s humiliation against Chelsea.

VAR drama once again took centre stage, with the visitors adamant they should’ve been awarded at least three penalties.

Ashley Young was at the heart of the action, with the 38-year-old involved in all three flashpoints. Forest went on to release a scathing statement just moments after the final whistle had blown.

Espirito Santo has been talking to the media after the game and was asked if he had bad blood towards Young.

“Never, never, never. We are professionals and reasonable people,” he explained.

“We had a problem, but then, it’s finished, the game is finished. We go home like gentlemen, like we should be.

“This is football, but more important is life and our behaviour to people.”

Everton land huge win on embarrassing day for Nottingham Forest

Forest’s statement after the final whistle was nothing short of embarrassing. The East Midlands club should accept the decisions and move on.

As Sean Dyche highlighted, his side have also had to deal with some pretty uninspiring calls. Every team has to contend with poor refereeing; it’s, unfortunately, part of the modern game.

Regarding the result, Sunday’s win could be absolutely vital. Everton are now five points clear of the relegation zone after Luton Town’s hammering to Brentford on Saturday. One more win should be enough to secure Premier League football for next season.
