'Everyone knows': Moussa Diaby seriously impressed by one Aston Villa player v Bournemouth today

Aston Villa continued their push towards the Champions League places by seeing off Bournemouth at Villa Park today.

Unai Emery’s men had to dig deep after winning in Europe in midweek and came from behind when Dominic Solanke scored for the Cherries.

For Villa, a number of their big name players turned up when it mattered.

New signing Morgan Rogers scored to level the game before exciting wingers Leon Bailey and Moussa Diaby both netted to seal the deal for Villa.

Of course, those players scoring meant there was no place on the scoresheet for Ollie Watkins.

However, Watkins did manage a few assists on the day and speaking about the England striker at full-time, his teammate Diaby was full of praise for the former Brentford ace.

Moussa Diaby praises Ollie Watkins as Aston Villa win again

For a player like Watkins, getting goals is what matters the most.

However, if you can’t score, then the next best thing you can do is create for teammates and that’s exactly the point Diaby wanted to make about his teammate.

Speaking to the BBC, Diaby lauded the impact Watkins has one proceedings.

“Everyone knows Ollie is very good striker. He helped the team a lot with a lot of goals, a lot of assists. [He had] a good game today and I am happy for him even if he does not score. I am sure he will score in the next game,” Diaby said.

Watkins has to go to the Euros

England have some excellent players in attacking positions and it’s hard to find your way into the squad.

However, Ollie Watkins surely has to be on the plane for Germany.

His form is brilliant and he can also play up top and out wide if needed.

Right now, Gareth Southgate would be silly to ignore the Villa star and as Diaby says here, everyone at the club knows how good he is.

Watkins, then, simply has to be in the England squad for the summer.
