‘Excellent’: Fulham boss Marco Silva amazed by 25-year-old Liverpool player today

Fulham boss Marco Silva has singled out one Liverpool player for praise after today’s clash at Craven Cottage.

Jurgen Klopp’s side got back to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday with a convincing 3-1 win at Fulham.

Liverpool have moved level on points with league leaders Arsenal, with Manchester City having a game in hand over both sides.

Trent Alexander-Arnold opened the scoring in west London with a stunning free-kick after making a bright start to the game.

Despite a dominant first-half performance, Timothy Castagne levelled the game up on the stroke of halftime after some sloppy defending from the Reds.

Klopp’s side turned on the style once again after the break though. Ryan Gravenberch netted with a brilliant effort from range following an underwhelming opening 45 minutes for the Dutchman.

Diogo Jota handed Liverpool a well-deserved third goal with a neat finish in the 72nd minute.

And Marco Silva was quick to praise one Liverpool star following a special moment in today’s game.

What Silva said about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick

Speaking to the Premier League’s official website, Silva admitted that Alexander-Arnold produced a moment of real quality in the first half.

“Good first half, second half not at the best level,” the Fulham boss said. “Balanced first half, Liverpool scored an excellent free-kick but our reaction was good and it would not have been fair to get to half-time losing the game because we had some very good moments.

“After the second goal, we were not able to create so many and the second half was not good.”

Trent return could be huge for Liverpool

Following a spell on the sidelines, Alexander-Arnold marked his return to the Liverpool side in the Premier League with an exceptional goal today.

The 25-year-old suffered a knee injury earlier this year and it’s fair to say his creativity has been a huge miss for Klopp’s men.

Alexander-Arnold started in a 1-0 win away to Atalanta on Thursday evening after getting 42 minutes under his belt against Crystal Palace last weekend.

With Liverpool hoping to land a Premier League title, having the defender back in the side is a huge boost.

While he’s yet to return to top form after seven weeks on the sidelines, his passing caught the eye at Craven Cottage.
