Two Erik ten Hag signings send messages to Manchester United fans after win, both agree

Manchester United’s players have been active on social media following the dramatic FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City.

When all is said and done, Manchester United are where we wanted to be, heading into the weekend: The FA Cup final.

It wasn’t an easy journey. As Olympic legend and Manchester United fan Usain Bolt wrote on social media during the semi-final: “Wake me up when this is all over.”

Manchester United had allowed a 3-0 lead to slip to 3-3, even conceding a fourth before being bailed out by VAR.

United eventually reached the final with a 4-2 victory on penalties. It wasn’t convincing, but the outcome was what we wanted.

Manchester United players react

Manchester United goalkeeperAndre Onana made the crucial intervention in the penalty shootout to help the team to victory.

Onana saved one, while another missed the target entirely, with four of United’s five players scoring.

The Cameroon star is already looking forward to returning to Wembley for the FA Cup final.

He wrote on Instagram: “It wasn’t our best day, but there’s nothing better than being able to play my first final defending this shirt. We stick together.”

Another summer signing, Rasmus Hojlund, is also looking forward to getting another chance to get on the scoresheet at Wembley.

He will at least take some confidence from scoring in the shootout, netting the game-clinching penalty.

He wrote: “First final, In a United shirt❤️ we all know it could have been better today, but the most important thing is the final!!! See you all again on Wednesday.”

Erik ten Hag seeking improvement

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is seeking improvement from his players in the forthcoming games.

Speaking after the FA Cup semi-final, he told ITV: “It was an incredible game, a strange game too. We had total control for so long and then gave it away in the last part of the game. We did show resilience to win the penalty shootout.

“We had control for 75 minutes and have to give Coventry a compliment for what they did in the last 15 minutes.

“We have to improve. We talk a lot about this. First you have to put yourself in a winning position but then you have to take it over the line. In these moments we are making mistakes and not keeping our responsibilities.”
