Ruben Amorim could make ‘exceptional’ Liverpool player absolutely world-class next season

One ‘exceptional’ Liverpool player could really benefit if Ruben Amorim was appointed as the club’s next manager.

Ruben Amorim is very much the front runner to be Liverpool’s next manager. It’s no surprise as to why. He comes with an excellent CV and a unique style of play that loosely resembles Jurgen Klopp’s gegenpress, which would mean there would be some continuity at Anfield.

Although Amorim also has different ideals about the game and his own methods. He will want to bring those ideals in with him and change some things at Liverpool.

Most notably, the biggest difference will be his 3-4-3 system that turns into a 3-2-5 in possession, which is completely different to Klopp’s 4-3-3 system.

This system will not suit some current Liverpool players, but it may also benefit others really well.

Why Harvey Elliott could really benefit if Ruben Amorim was appointed

One player who is already showing signs of great improvement this season, and who has been described as ‘exceptional’ by Jurgen Klopp is Harvey Elliott.

Only 21-years-old, the Liverpool youngster has been brilliant to watch and has progressed really well this season.

He’s someone who could also really benefit under Amorim.

The reason why is because in Amorim’s system there is more room for attacking midfielders of Elliott’s profile to flourish.

Right now, in Klopp’s current system, Elliott doesn’t typically fit the number eight nor the right-winger profile. Impressively, he’s still been able to do really well in these roles.

However, he is much better suited as an attacking midfielder. And Amorim is someone who likes to play with two attacking midfielders or inverted wingers behind his number nine.

This role could really suit Elliott and bring the best out of him. Which is why Amorim could be the perfect appointment for Elliott’s career.

Why no midfielder can match Harvey Elliott this season

According to CIES Football Observatory data Elliott leads the way among European midfielders from the top 10 leagues for top sprinting distance per 90.

Impressively, Elliott ranks top for the metric with 316m per 90 minutes. Meanwhile, his Liverpool teammate, Szoboszlai is second with 306 per 90 minutes.

This is just yet more proof of Elliott’s explosive ability, and the way he has been performing to such high standards this season in Klopp’s system.
