'Doing his best': Nation's media say out-on-loan Leeds 23-year-old keeps on giving the ball away

In the summer, Leeds United will be desperate to rid themselves of some players that left the club on loan at the start of the season. Victor Orta’s relegation clause saw plenty of senior players jump ship.

Of the eight first-teamers that left on loan using Orta’s much-criticised clause last summer, two will be exiting permanently already. Robin Koch to Frankfurt, while Luis Sinisterra is staying put at Bournemouth.

The players that remains on loan that Leeds will want rid of include the likes of Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen, Max Wober, Marc Roca, Jack Harrison and possibly, Brenden Aaronson over at Union Berlin.

Aaronson managed just one goal in 40 games for Leeds last season. The 23-year-old joined as Jesse Marsch’s first signing for a huge £25m – but has struggled since. He has two goals in 34 for Union.

Leeds would only sell Brenden Aaronson for £10m this summer

Reports say that if Leeds are to sell the USA man, then a fee of just £10m is going to come our way – a loss of £15m. But that might not be the end of the world, given Aaronson’s current form in Germany.

On the weekend, Aaronson started his fifth Bundesliga match in a row as Union took on Bayern Munich. Union have won just one in the last eight, in which Aaronson did score the winner – against Werder.

That run of results has seen Union sitting in 14th place out of 18, just three points above the drop zone with four league games to play. Union will have to stay up if Union are going to end up signing him.

Leeds man Aaronson struggles in 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich

The league has gone for Harry Kane and Eric Dier’s Bayern, but they remain in the hunt for the Champions League trophy after defeating Arsenal. They seemed back to their best on the weekend, winning 5-1.

Aaronson, among many other Union teammates, struggled against Thomas Tuchel’s side despite having home advantage. German outlet Berliner Zeitung gave their verdict on Aaronson’s display for Union.

“He’s doing his best. Runs up and down the field, often goes into duels and wins balls. But in the transition game his haste gets the better of him and he throws away some interesting counterattacks.”
