'Really strange': ESPN pundit says Jurgen Klopp did something vs Fulham which really surprise him

According to Steve Nicol, Jurgen Klopp did something really strange in the Liverpool vs Fulham game yesterday.

It wasn’t the best performance by Liverpool against Fulham yesterday. We’ve seen Jurgen Klopp’s sides play a lot better in the past.

However, it was a victory, and that’s a major improvement on the last few results Liverpool have suffered during the month of April so far.

For the first time, Klopp can actually be pleased by the performance of some of his players. Including Trent Alexander-Arnold, who earned plenty of plaudits after the game.

But while there was plenty to be positive about Liverpool and Klopp, according to Steve Nicol, there was also something ‘really strange’ about the game yesterday.

What Jurgen Klopp did vs Fulham that was ‘really strange’ according to Steve Nicol

Liverpool’s victory was thanks to a much better performance in the second-half. In the first-half, Liverpool controlled possession of the ball but could not create any chances.

In the second-half, that changed and Liverpool looked a lot more dangerous going forward. Credit must be given to Klopp as well who tweaked the system a little bit and introduced changes at the right time.

But while Klopp did well to influence the game according to former Liverpool player Steve Nicol, there was also something missing.

“There was another thing that stuck out today,” Nicol said on ESPN.

“Klopp was very quiet. Well, they go ahead and then it’s one apiece and then they come in at half-time. Then the second-half starts, and it’s kind of more of the same.

“Yes, they are on top but they are really not getting anywhere and he’s sat down. I just found it really strange that he wasn’t a lot more demonstrative, particularly when it was 1-1.”

Was Klopp really that quiet yesterday?

In all fairness in the last few weeks, this is not the first time Klopp has remained still on the bench.

He has been a lot ‘calmer’ since making his announcement to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t animated yesterday for the whole ninety minutes. There were plenty of moments in which he stood up and reacted with emotion.

To us this wasn’t really anything strange or new.
