'He is unbelievable': Micah Richards thinks £15m Aston Villa player has got 'something special' about him

Micah Richards has now been heavily praising one Aston Villa player following yesterday’s comeback win against Bournemouth.

Unai Emery’s side really took the initiative against Tottenham Hotspur in the race for fourth-place winning 3-1 against Andoni Iraola’s impressive side.

Villa are now six points clear of Spurs having played two more games, they’re really cranking up the ‘scoreboard pressure’ on their rivals.

And given the difficult games Tottenham have in hand, they may not be feeling too confident about chasing Emery’s men.

That being said, Micah Richards was left blown away by one performance in an Aston Villa shirt yesterday.

Unai Emery mostly kept his team the same from the side that managed to overcome Lille on penalties on Thursday.

Leon Bailey and Morgan Rogers for Nicolo Zaniolo and Douglas Luiz were the only changes, ones that did actually pay dividends.

And when discussing Villa’s performance on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast, Richards admitted he was amazed by Rogers.

Micah Richards thinks Aston Villa have found a real diamond in Morgan Rogers

Aston Villa made a couple of other signings in January, deals for Kosta Nedeljkovic, Joe Gauci and Lino Sousa.

But the £15m-signing of Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers was the only deal intended for the here and now.

And even then, Unai Emery may be surprised at the impact that attacker has enjoyed.

And speaking on the podcast mentioned, Micah Richards almost ran out of superlatives for the Aston Villa man.

He said: “Morgan Rogers who we have mentioned a couple of times.

“We watched him in the FA Cup against Middlesbrough and I was like this kid is something else, he has got something special about him.

“He was sort of a striker, but now he seems more like an eight or a 10 dictating in midfield. He’s just amazing to watch. He is unbelievable.

“Everything that is good about Villa at this moment in time, it’s going through him.

“It’s a real diamond of a find that for Villa, I know people knew about him, but he’s excelled at a rate beyond belief at this moment in time.”

Could Morgan Rogers join Ollie Watkins in the England set up?

Perhaps this summer’s Euros have come a little too quickly, but Rogers’ performances have certainly proved that he’s getting closer to that level of thinking.

The winger’s pass into Ollie Watkins that eventually led to Moussa Diaby’s goal was divine.

And Rogers is starting to form a really effective partnership with Watkins, an imposing duo for any defence.

This Aston Villa side really is going from strength to strength and Rogers probably will be crucial in their upcoming European games too.

A remarkable impact for a player who has arrived from the Championship to Villa mid-season, and Micah Richards is right to deliver this level of praise.

That being said, Moussa Diaby was incredibly impressed by a different display yesterday.
