Poland has obligations to NATO as a member of the Alliance and is ready to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory, according to Polish President Andrzej Duda.

According to Duda, the issue of nuclear weapons deployment has been the subject of Polish-American negotiations for some time. In particular, he "does not hide" the fact that during the talks he declared Poland's readiness to take the appropriate step. He recalled that Russia:

  • is increasingly militarizing the Königsberg area;
  • moved its nuclear weapons to Belarus.

"If our allies decide to deploy nuclear weapons within the framework of the joint use of nuclear weapons on our territory to strengthen the security of NATO's eastern flank, we are ready for it. We are an ally of the North Atlantic Alliance and we have obligations in this area, so we are simply pursuing a common policy," the President says.

Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus

In 2023, the heads of the Ministries of Defense of Belarus and the Russian Federation agreed to transport Russian tactical nuclear weapons (TNWs) to Belarusian territory. At the same time, Russia declared that control over TNWs remains with it.

As the National Resistance Center of Ukraine wrote, meanwhile, Minsk planned to update its military doctrine and abandon the ban on the deployment of nuclear weapons in the country.
