Good Morning Britain fans slam Susanna Reid over 'useless' Suella Braverman interview

By Chloe Govan & Susan Knox

Good Morning Britain viewers have branded Susanna Reid and her co-star Richard Madeley "absolutely useless" as they claimed she had failed to challenge Suella Braverman's views.

The former Home Secretary caused a stir this morning when she revealed she had voted against the bill to send illegal immigrants to Rwanda, as she didn't believe it provided a sufficient deterrent. Stating that the bill didn't go "far enough", she insisted the "only way" to "take back control" of Britain's borders would be to leave the European Court of Human Rights. Sounding bewildered, Susanna asked: "Why have you changed your mind?"

She pointed out that during her tenure as Home Secretary, Suella had visited Rwanda herself and had spoken positively of the bill. Suella replied that she feared strategies from Strasbourg could put a halt to the flight plans and stop some from taking off.

Fans exploded with emotion on Twitter over the exchange, as a backlash against Susanna began to form. "Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid absolutely useless. No challenging any of Braverman's rhetoric. So much rubbish spouted and they allowed her to rant without challenge # GMB," one viewer tweeted.

However, another shot back: "[That's] because the majority of people agree with her." Another disagreed with the ITV host for a different reason, swiping: "Susanna had her a** handed to her on a plate. Well done Suella. Your views actually represent the majority of the country. The woke, lefty Reid, didn't lay a glove on you."

However, another viewer challenged: "How do you know what the majority of the country are thinking? Should you not wait until the the results of the local and then the general election to give you confirmation as to what the people really think?"

Meanwhile, some viewers seemed to have despaired with the politically intense content airing at such an early hour of the morning. One joked: " Suella Braverman is being interviewed on @GMB shortly... That's my cue to go back to bed...I look forward to waking up to seeing her trending for flagrant s***housery."

A second quipped: "@GMB switched on Good Morning Britain this morning, saw Richard Madeley and Suella Braverman. Switched off. See you next week."

Another accused GMB of an "absolutely appalling piece of weak journalism" due to the duo not "challenging the facts". Have you laid off all your researchers? We were all very poorly served by this," they ranted.

However, Suella was insistent that leaving the ECHR and sending "regular" flights to Rwanda was "the only way we send the message to the people smuggling gangs that they won't get a life in the UK".

Meanwhile, this isn't the first time recently that GMB has caused a stir, with some viewers branding the show "unwatchable" on Friday over "leftie presenters".
