'He is unbelievable': After Cole Palmer, Micah Richards says Man City have let go of another 'real diamond'

Micah Richards has stated that apart from Cole Palmer, Manchester City sold another “real diamond” of a youngster.

Staying on the subject of Palmer, whether City made the right decision by cashing out on him or by keeping him is often debated, with opinions split right in the middle.

Pep Guardiola recently admitted that perhaps, he should have given more playing time to the England international.

John Stones also disclosed that he was upset to see the 21-year-old leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer.

However, Garth Crooks claimed that Cole Palmer is “not good enough” to play for the treble-winners.

Perhaps the next few years will well and truly dictate whether City were justified in selling him to Chelsea.

Micah Richards says Man City sold a “real diamond” in the summer

The only way is up for Cole Palmer, who is likely to grow from strength to strength and become one of the best attacking players in the Premier League.

Whether Palmer sees his long-term future at Chelsea will be interesting to see unfold.

As things stand, it is fair to say the Blues look nowhere close to competing for major trophies.

But as far as his talent goes, the 21-year-old could become a world-class player, whether it be as a number 10 or as a winger.

However, Manchester City perhaps have the most in-form attacking midfielder in the country on their books in Phil Foden for years to come.

Whether City can say the same for the right-wing position will dictate their feelings about selling Palmer in 2023.

But Micah Richards believes that Manchester City sold another gem of a youngster and that is Morgan Rogers.

“Morgan Rogers, who we have mentioned a couple of times. We watched him in the FA Cup against Middlesbrough and I was like, this kid is something else, he has got something special about him. He was sort of a striker but now he seems more like an eight or a 10 dictating in midfield”, he said on The Rest Is Football Podcast.

“He’s just amazing to watch. He is unbelievable. Everything that is good about Villa at this moment in time, it’s going through him. It’s a real diamond of a find that for Villa, I know people knew about him, but he’s excelled at a rate beyond belief at this moment in time.”

Morgan Rogers is class but City need not be concerned

Micah Richards is justified in hailing Morgan Rogers, who is a terrific talent but in our view, Manchester City should not be concerned about having to let him go.

Ultimately, the club will always have top young players at their disposal and their job is to keep the best of the best at their disposal.

As a result, City, like any club will be forced to sell some of their talented youngsters and Morgan Rogers is no different, who as Micah Richards stated is thriving in an Aston Villa shirt.

But at 21, Rogers would likely have demanded first-team minutes, which would have been tough to hand out for Guardiola, considering a gem of a young attacker like Bobb also does not play regularly.
