President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today, April 22, held another meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Three topics were discussed for Ukraine: the front line, arms production, and infrastructure protection, according to the president's Telegram channel.
According to the president, one of the issues discussed was the situation on the front line. In particular, Zelenskyy listened to a report from Chief of Staff Oleksandr Syrskyi regarding the situation on the main fronts.
"The occupying army has a task to demonstrate some victories regardless of their own losses by May 9. Now they are being pushed even more by positive decisions from Ukraine's friends. It's tough for our soldiers, but the arrival of necessary assistance will level the situation. That's why support with specific weaponry, available from our partners, is urgently needed," the president said.
Also discussed was theissue of Ukraine's arms production. Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov reported on the results of this. Currently, Ukraine is working on a new format of agreements that, on one hand, will not overburden the military budget and, on the other hand, will guarantee manufacturers long-term commitments from the state.
And the third issue is Ukraine's protection from Russian shelling.
"For the next Staff meeting, I have instructed to gather all the information known to our intelligence about the intentions of Russian terrorists to destroy civilian infrastructure and to prepare a comprehensive plan of further actions: strengthening physical protection where it works, redistributing air defense systems and decentralization where possible," the president said.
Situation on the frontline
Earlier, Zelenskyy stated that Russia aims to capture Chasiv Yar before the so-called Victory Day on May 9th. In case this doesn't happen, the Russian army plan to launch another counteroffensive.
Specifically, British intelligence claimed that in Chasiv Yar, the Russian troops intend to employ the same tactics as in Avdiivka. Occupiers drop up to 30 air bombs there within a day.
It's worth noting that Ukrainian military personnel are controlling the situation in the city of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region, despite the fact that the occupiers continue their assaults.
