'He did it' – £64m Man Utd talent did not hesitate for one moment in naming the best player of all time

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund dropped the ultimate praise on one legendary “monster” footballer after naming the best player of all time.

Rasmus Hojlund was a key signing for Erik ten Hag last summer and the Manchester United star arrived at Old Trafford after his £72m move from Serie A side Atalanta.

The 21-year-old Denmark striker has impressed at times for United this season after overcoming a tough start to life in England after his big-money transfer.

Hojlund went his first 14 Premier League matches without scoring, despite finding the back of the net five times in six Champions League appearances.

The United star finally broke his goalscoring drought in the league before the end of 2023 after he scored the winner in a 3-2 comeback win against Aston Villa.

Hojlund enjoyed a more successful run at the start of 2024, with the Danish forward scoring an impressive six times in five consecutive Premier League matches.

However, the former Atalanta man’s rich vein of form came to an end in late February after he was sidelined due to a muscle injury.

Man Utd star Hojlund picks the GOAT

Rasmus Hojlund has since returned to first-team action under Erik ten Hag and struggled to rediscover his goalscoring form for the Red Devils.

The Manchester United striker has failed to score in his last four Premier League matches, with Erik ten Hag keeping faith with Hojlund amid the dip in his form.

Hojlund also featured in the sensational 4-3 comeback win for United in the FA Cup against Liverpool last month, but the United star was subbed off in the second half.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Denmark international took part in a Q&A with fans and was asked who he thinks is the best player of all time.

Hojlund did not hesitate for one moment in picking United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, who is widely regarded as one of the best players of all time.

“Yeah, for me he is [the GOAT],” he said.

“Yeah. Because he won everything, he did it in every country and he did it everywhere he is and he’s still doing it now.

“And yeah, for me, again back to the mentality, he’s a monster.”

Hojlund talks influence of Ronaldo

Al Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is often placed at the centre of the so-called ‘GOAT debate’ alongside Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.

United and Real Madrid legend Ronaldo has had a remarkable playing career at club level and made a sensational impact in Spain, England and Italy.

The 39-year-old Portuguese forward has also found success on the international stage with his country, including lifting a European Championship in 2016.

Hojlund has previously admitted that Ronaldo was a huge inspiration for him and has now revealed that he modelled part of his playing style on him.

“So, there’s a lot of players I used to look at,” he said.

“[Robert] Lewandowski a lot. Cristiano, of course. He’s my idol, so I watched him a lot. And Romelu Lukaku.”
