Portuguese media share who Ruben Amorim is really flying to meet tonight… Liverpool or West Ham

Liverpool’s search for their new manager took an interesting turn on Monday.

The Reds had seemingly installed Sporting manager Ruben Amorim as their top choice to replace Jurgen Klopp over the summer.

But with claims from The Athletic that it is now ‘unlikely’ that Liverpool hire Amorim, supporters were left scratching their heads.

The same report claimed that the 39-year-old is actually West Ham’s preferred candidate to succeed David Moyes at the end of the season.

As fans were still digesting that news, Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda claimed that Amorim is currently flying to hold talks with both Liverpool and West Ham. Now, another outlet from the manager’s homeland has sought to clear things up.

Where is Ruben Amorim flying to

It had always looked likely that April would be a key month in Liverpool’s new manager search. With less than a month of the season to go, the heat is starting to turn up.

Up until now, it has been claimed that part of the Reds’ process would be to at least interview Amorim. So, it would make sense that he would fly to England at some stage.

However, Portuguese outlet CNN now claim that the manager’s journey is solely to speak to those in charge of West Ham.

They claim that Amorim has flown to London on a private jet ‘made available’ by the Hammers’ owners on Monday.

London is said to be his destination, and his travelling partner one Mr Raul Costa – his agent.

Although Liverpool are not ruled out specifically as having a meeting with Amorim as well, there’s actually no mention of the Reds at all.

Who else could Liverpool turn to

If Amorim is only speaking to West Ham, then you’d imagine that Liverpool have turned to other candidates.

There is the possibility that the former midfielder has decided he’d prefer to take over at the London Stadium than Anfield. But, with all due respect to West Ham, that doesn’t really seem likely.

If Liverpool really have chosen to go down another path, then it will be intriguing to see where it takes them. Jose Mourinho was spotted watching the Reds face Fulham yesterday and we think he could be a serious option.

Aside from that, journalist Graeme Bailey exclusively revealed to Rousing The Kop that Thiago Motta may be a ‘shock’ appointment.

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see. One thing seems to be for sure though; Amorim’s on English soil tonight.
