Leon Osman says Liverpool 25-year-old ‘one of the best in the Premier League’ after win v Fulham

Liverpool are blessed to have some of the best players in the Premier League in their ranks.

From the dynamic Mohamed Salah, the ice-cool Virgil van Dijk, the technically outstanding Trent Alexander-Arnold, the underrated Alexis Mac Allister and the consistent Alisson Becker.

It is a team built from the hands of Jurgen Klopp and it’s a big reason why Liverpool won it all under his stewardship.

Fans will be hoping they can see him off with one more Premier League title, but they know that they will have to win their remaining matches at a minimum and then hope for favours from others.

After losing to Crystal Palace last week and shooting themselves in the foot, Liverpool returned to winning ways when they beat Fulham 3-1 on Sunday.

Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota ensured that they kept the pressure on the favourites, Manchester City.

The man who opened the scoring for the Reds was their all-attacking right-back when he pinged the ball into the top corner from a free-kick on the edge of the box.

Given that the 25-year-old has been out injured for several months, it’s a welcome return to action for the player and his teammates.

Leon Osman feels that Alexander-Arnold is ‘one of the best players in the Premier League’ after his stunner at Craven Cottage.

The former Everton man added that Klopp simply wants him ‘available as often’ given his importance, as he told Premier League Productions (21/04/24 at 6:55 pm).

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick goal

“He is one of the best players in the Premier League,” said Osman. “You want him available as often as you can have him.

“The talk has been, for the majority of the season, should he play right-back or should he play central midfield? Because he can affect the game more from that advanced position.

“Jurgen Klopp wants him in his team as often as he can. A couple of injury issues, but he shows that quality (free-kick goal). Whenever he is out on the field, you know he will provide a moment for his team, whether it will be a goal or an assist. Or a pass that would unlock the defence to get the goal that will eventually follow. As I said, he is one of the best players in the Premier League.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s role for Liverpool

The debates have always raged about where it’s best to put Alexander-Arnold in the team.

Under Klopp, he has proven time and time again that he is one of the best fullbacks in the world.

But when his manager departs in the summer, a new chapter will begin for the player and it will be interesting to see how he will be used.

Some fans might want to see a change and TAA used in the middle of the park because he has all the qualities to fill that role.
