Driver, 2 passengers killed in fiery Route 1 crash are identified

Authorities have identified the driver and two passengers in a van killed in a fiery four-vehicle crash with a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles earlier this month on Route 1 in South Brunswick,

Driver Charisse Nelson-Bailey, 24, and passengers Daniel Vida, 28 and Maria Passalaris, 25, died following the crash, which took place April 12 at 9:40 a.m. on the southbound side near Ridge Road, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Three people in a van were killed in multi-vehicle crash on Route 1 in South Brunswick on April 12.

Passalaris was from the Skillman section of Montgomery while Nelson-Bailey and Vida were residents of the Princeton Junction section of West Windsor, police said.

The tractor-trailer struck a Sprinter van at the intersection, which caused the van to hit two other vehicles, officials said. The van and the tractor-trailer traveled another 100 yards north of the intersection and caught fire, police said.

The van was en route to Community Options in West Windsor, which serves adults with disabilities.
