Hezbollah fires dozens of rockets into northern Israel

The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said late Monday that it fired dozens of rockets at an army post in northern Israel.

The Shiite militia said that the attack was in retaliation for Israeli shelling and airstrikes on Lebanese villages.

Israel said there were no casualties among its forces. It said warplanes retaliated by striking the launch base from which the rockets were fired.

Since the beginning of the Gaza war, pro-Iranian Hezbollah has been firing rockets, artillery and anti-tank shells from Lebanon into northern Israel.

Around 280 Hezbollah fighters have been killed in the fighting in the border area so far.

There have also been several fatalities on the Israeli side.

On Sunday, an Israeli drone was hit by a surface-to-air missile and crashed on Lebanese soil.
