Influencer shocks followers by revealing the trick makeup companies do with their packaging

A makeup influencer sparked a shocked reaction from her followers after revealing that beauty companies hide some of their product within the packaging itself.

Despite having ranges for almost every budgetary requirement, makeup, and skincare can be a huge expenditure. That price tag only goes up when looking at luxury brands like Chanel, Fenty, YSL, and Hourglass.

How to get more product out of your lipstick

If you’ve got a luxury beauty product then it’s pretty likely that you’d be able to get a few extra bangs for your buck using a new TikTok hack from Tara Sigari (@tarasigari).

She took to the video-sharing platform earlier this week to stitch a video from makeup guru and YouTuber Jeffree Star. The 38-year-old mogul had shown how little product you get for $45 when purchasing one of Yves Saint Laurent’s highly acclaimed lipsticks.

“Hi Jeffree Star I’m a huge fan, I come in peace, and I’m a little scared filming this video. I’m going to show you a really cool hack that not a lot of people know,” Tara explained. “So the YSL lipstick, you said it was $45 and this is how much product you get. Incorrect.”

Tara cut off the lipstick and then proceeded to remove a circular sticker from the bottom of the product. From here, she used a makeup brush to push through the opening she had created by removing the sticker. Shockingly, a huge amount of product was pushed from the applicator.

Since posting, Tara’s video has amassed over 4.7 million views, 500k likes, and hundreds of comments thanking her for the reveal. The influencer also tried the trick on a number of other makeup products, suggesting that the process is fairly industry-standard.

Fans scrambled for their empty products

A lot of Tara’s followers were taken aback by the revelation, with some even suggesting that it must have been a conscious decision on the brand’s part.

One person wrote: “The fact you have to push it up from the bottom for that price is crazy.”

“I have so many of these and have never hit bottom. Thank you!!” someone else wrote, to which Tara responded with, “Yes, I have a lot too. I like them because the consistency is very nice. I don’t feel it on my lips. My favorite one was the candy glazes.”

Someone else added: “The way my jaw dropped!”
