Amazon is giving its customers a new way to shop online. The e-commerce giant has announced the launch of Amazon Live, a channel available in the US on Prime Video and Freevee, its free streaming platform. The channel is designed to provide a seamless transition between seeing a product in a TV program and purchasing it on Amazon. Has it ever been so easy to make an impulse purchase?

This new channel is currently accessible free of charge via Prime Video and Freevee, a free ad-supported streaming platform owned by Amazon, according to an official release. Previously, Amazon Live was only available on Amazon's website and mobile app. Now, users can enjoy this shopping experience directly from their TV, simply by going to the "Live TV" category on Prime Video or Freevee.

"We are excited to bring customers more ways to shop with their favorite Amazon Live creators and brands on our premium streaming services,” said Wayne Purboo, vice president of Amazon Shopping Videos. "With the new ‘Amazon Live’ FAST Channel on Prime Video and Freevee, we’re making shoppable entertainment more accessible, interactive, and engaging than ever before.”

Facilitating the purchasing process

The integration of Amazon Live with Prime Video and Freevee aims to facilitate the shopping experience. Viewers can purchase on-screen products in just a few clicks, without having to leave the channel. Items are automatically added to their Amazon shopping cart, simplifying the purchasing process and allowing them to concentrate on the content they're watching.

By typing "shop the show" in their smartphone application's search bar, consumers will be able to simultaneously view the products on offer on their TV screen, adding a new dimension to the multi-screening phenomenon.

Amazon has revealed the names of some of the creators and celebrities taking part in the launch, including Lala Kent, followed by 2.4 million people on Instagram, and Kandi Burruss (10.7 million). Paige DeSorbo (1.1 million) was also named, and is expected to head up a new show specially designed for TV, scheduled for June on Amazon Live.

Combining the entertainment and shopping experiences has long been a goal of various social media, particularly TikTok and Pinterest. In fact, a recent GlobalData survey revealed that more than four out of ten members of Gen Z and Millennials had made a purchase using Pinterest.
