‘Always a hard game’: Jamie Carragher predicts the score when Liverpool face Everton tomorrow

Everton have been given no time to revel in their relegation six-pointer on Sunday, which they won, as the Premier League games continue to come thick and fast.

After all, attention simply must now be turned to the Merseyside derby, which takes place at Goodison Park tomorrow night.

A huge fixture for both ends of the table, Liverpool have far more on the line than the hosts given the gap they extended with their recent win over Nottingham Forest.

However, one Sky Sports pundit still sought to offer his prediction on a game that is always ‘hard’ for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Jamie Carragher makes his Merseyside derby prediction

Speaking to YouTuber and content creator StillRyan, Jamie Carragher offered his thoughts on the upcoming derby at the end of the video.

The rest beforehand had been classic heartwarming viewing, synonymous with his brand, as he interviewed strangers before making a surprise appearance for the charity Alfie’s Squad.

That was where he met the former Liverpool defender, whom he then quizzed about all things Everton.

Naturally, as a former supporter of the Toffees, he retains a soft spot for them.

But, when asked to give his score prediction, he unsurprisingly sided with the Reds: ‘Ours to lose? It might be ours to win. We’ve got tough… We’ve got to go to Goodison, haven’t we?

‘It’s always a hard game. I’m going to 2-1 Liverpool.’

Everton have a free hit against Liverpool

Having beaten Burnley earlier in the month, and recently felled fellow relegation-battlers Nottingham Forest on Sunday too, the Toffees have put themselves in a fine position to once again escape the drop.

This is their third straight Premier League campaign in which they will cut survival close, but having extended a five-point gap between them and 18th-placed Luton Town, it would take something miraculous and disastrous to see things swing against them.

So, the pressure is somewhat alleviated for Everton.

No longer must they rely on tough fixtures for crucial points, safe in the knowledge that, having already stood up when it mattered, they also have to welcome Brentford and Sheffield United to Goodison Park.

Those results, should they also be favourable, could render their trip to the Hatters obsolete.

So Wednesday marks a free hit, which could make Sean Dyche’s side dangerous against a nervous Liverpool outfit with it all still to play for.
