'It's a team that's always...': £27m Arsenal player now makes honest admission about Manchester City

Arsenal defender Gabriel has given his honest verdict about Manchester City, as the 2023/24 season comes to an end.

The Gunners currently lead the way at the top of the Premier League table, and have the chance to establish a bigger gap tonight as they face Chelsea.

Arsenal can go four clear of City and three clear of Liverpool with a win, and Mikel Arteta will be hoping to put the pressure on.

It is the closest and, for the neutral, most exciting title race in years, and City are going to have to be at their very best to claim a fourth Premier League in a row – a feat that has never been achieved before.

Pep Guardiola‘s players have been there time and time again, which may well be something that gives them the edge – and City’s quality and know-how is not lost on Gabriel…

City are in action on Thursday night against Brighton, which is a potential banana skin.

The Seagulls are a top side these days under Roberto De Zerbi. Although they probably haven’t been at their very best this term, they are still a very dangerous outfit and could cause City problems at the Amex Stadium.

Arsenal would like to hope Brighton can do them a favour. But they have to beat Chelsea first before they start thinking about that.

£27 million defender Gabriel has been offering his thoughts about the title race ahead of the midweek fixtures. And he dropped his honest verdict on City ahead of his side’s game with Chelsea.

He told TNT Sports: “It’s hard, because they’re a team that’s been together a long time. They have players with a lot of quality, and it’s a team that’s always at the top, playing finals.

“We do our work, we know it’s hard but of course, we are happy to be at the top of the league and to play teams like them and to play at their level.”

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has also pointed to City’s experience being a potential key factor.

City’s experience could prove decisive

Arsenal are offering up a much stronger challenge than last season and are a genuine threat to City winning a fourth straight title.

But Gabriel is right to point to the City squad having been together for a long time and having that experience – it does count for a lot.

If the key men – like Rodri, Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden – can all stay fit until the end of the campaign, then there is a great chance of success.

Many are backing City to come through their final games. But the one against Tottenham Hotspur – which Gary Neville has pointed out – could be particularly difficult
