‘We talked’: Liam Scales shares what happened in Celtic dressing room after win at Hampden

Liam Scales has shared what the Celtic players discussed in the Hampden dressing room after the penalty shoot-out win over Aberdeen on Saturday.

In what will go down as one of the best semi-finals in the history of the tournament, for the neutral at least, there were clear issues that Celtic must deal with after watching Aberdeen knock three past us.

The most galling aspect is that Celtic conceded two late goals in regulation and extra time which took the game to penalties and, thankfully, Joe Hart ensured Brendan Rodgers‘ unbeaten run in the Scottish Cup continues.

And whilst the players are delighted to book their place in the final, Liam Scales has shared that there was a dressing room post-mortem after the Celtic win.

Celtic players ‘discussed’ Hampden issues

We could all see the glaring issues that caused the game at Hampden to get to penalties. At 2-1 up, Celtic should have seen the game out before it got anywhere near extra time. But they didn’t.

And Liam Scales has shared what the players spoke about immediately after the game.

Scales said [The Sun], “That’s dead right. It is a warning. We will look at what we need to do better.

“We already discussed it in the changing room after the game on Saturday, and we talked about how we could have improved at the goals.

“Obviously football is a game of small margins, so it’s about little changes that can help you avoid these things.

“It will be looked at closely because clean sheets are just as important as scoring goals.

“It’s a big part of what we want to do in the remaining games this season.”

Ironically, the majority of feeling amongst the Celtic fans is that the goals came from poor defending on Scales’ side so hopefully he has taken a look at how he could have done better at two crucial stages of the game.

With five games left to go in the league, the Celtic fans will be hoping that whatever was said in the Hampden dressing room will iron out those defensive issues because if these mistakes happen again, winning the league could become a harder task than it really needs to be.
