‘One or two changes’: Mark Guidi shares what he’s heard Brendan Rodgers is doing behind the scenes at Celtic

Celtic made moves this week behind the scenes to help improve the footballing operation at the club.

We told last week how Darren O’Dea was promoted to a new role within the club and how he will be tasked with bringing new talent into the Celtic first team.

The Professional Player Pathway Manager role is designed to look after youngsters at the club and on loan and will, hopefully, begin a new era of youth players progressing to become important first-team Celtic players.

But that’s not all that’s going on behind the scenes at Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers is ‘hands-on’ at every level at Celtic

Mark Guidi was speaking about Rodgers and the plans that Celtic have for the summer and what the Irishman’s future will be at the club regardless if he wins the league or not.

Guidi said [The Go Radio Football Show], “I think there’s a lot of things going on behind the scenes or one or two changes, not in terms of the first team department but certainly in the model.

“Two or three tiers below Brendan Rogers has been hands-on and looking at the whole structure of the club and different appointments from within the football department.

“Not just in terms of who’s going to replace Mark Lawwell, he’s going down to the B team, the under-18s, the whole set-up.

“So he’s very much hands-on and that tells me that whether Celtic win the league or not, Brendan Rodgers is confident in his position and has also had assurances, probably from Dermot Desmond, that he is in control of the football department.”

If what Guidi says is accurate, this will bode well for the Celtic fans in the upcoming transfer window.

Rodgers has bemoaned the lack of quality at the club and questions have been asked on whether or not the Celtic manager has had a full say in them this season.

But it seems that Rodgers is now wielding all the power at Celtic and that can only be a positive for the club moving forward.
