‘It’s crazy’… Gary Lineker says Aston Villa have ‘exceptional’ talent on their books

Gary Lineker has suggested Aston Villa have an “exceptional” English talent on their books.

Unai Emery’s side kept their Champions League aspirations firmly on course after Sunday’s 3-1 home victory over Bournemouth.

Morgan Rogers, Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey netted for the hosts to seal a comfortable victory.

The result means Villa are now six points clear of Tottenham Hotspur, although Ange Postecoglou’s side do hold two games in hand.

Speaking on the Rest is Football Podcast, Lineker, Micah Richards, and Alan Shearer discussed Aston Villa’s weekend victory over the Cherries.

Lineker highlighted Rogers’ performance after the January signing produced another impressive goalscoring display on Sunday.

Lineker said: “Another exceptional English talent. I mean, crikey. They’re producing them suddenly; it’s crazy, and it’s quite fun.”

Morgan Rogers ahead of schedule at Aston Villa

Few Villa fans wouldn’t anticipated Rogers’ rapid development following his £15million move from Middlesbrough in January.

As Emery has alluded to, Jacob Ramsey’s injury has seen the 21-year-old given ample opportunity to adjust to life in the Premier League.

Considering the start he’s made, £15million now looks like an absolute steal for the Villans. Speaking on the former Manchester City youngster, Emery said: “We analysed him, and his adaptation was easier because his qualities in our squad and structure tactically are really through him easier.”

“He has the skills; he understands how we want to create our structure tactically, offensively and defensively. He is showing his capacity, his adaptation is quick and he’s scoring goals like today. He played today imposing as well individually his duels a lot of times with the moment. He’s been fantastic.”
