Tottenham have a number of fringe players who are easy to forget about.
The likes of Bryan Gil, Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Solomon are often easy to forget when you’re thinking about Spurs’ squad options.
However, perhaps the most under-the-radar player at Tottenham is Brandon Austin.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper has been at Tottenham for a number of years now, but, as of yet, he hasn’t played a first-team game for Spurs.
However, last week, there were reports that Austin has held talks about signing a new contract with Tottenham, and according to Alasdair Gold, speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Spurs actually rate the goalie quite highly.

Gold spoke about Austin and how he’s viewed within Spurs.
“He’s kind of there or thereabouts. He’s very well-regarded. A good shot-stopper. I don’t think they’d have any qualms about putting him in there if they had to in a game. I think for the homegrown angle it’s another club-trained player,” Gold said.
Brandon Austin could replace Fraser Forster
Let’s be real, Brandon Austin is never going to be the Spurs number one, but perhaps he does have a future as their number two.
Fraser Forster isn’t getting any younger, and if Austin is rated in the way Gold says he is, perhaps he’s due an internal promotion to that number two role.
Guglielmo Vicario has been fantastic between the sticks for Tottenham this season, but if he was to go down with any sort of injury, Spurs would need to find someone to step up.
Austin may well be that man.
Who knows? Perhaps Austin could even make a solid career for himself. After all, Emi Martinez spent years in a similar sort of role at Arsenal, and now, he’s considered one of the better goalkeepers on the planet.
