Liverpool should buy £60m Everton midfielder this summer, Bayern Munich also want him - opinion

Everton’s £60m rated midfielder is exactly what Liverpool needs, and the club should try to sign him this summer.

In the history of Liverpool and Everton, few have crossed the forbidden path across Stanley Park. In fact, the last time anyone signed from Everton to Liverpool was over 20 years ago.

That was Abel Xavier back in 2002, and that transfer definitely caused a major commotion at the time. Since then, though, things have been quiet in terms of transfer activity between the two sides.

However, that should be about to change this summer. Because there is a midfielder at Everton who is exactly what Liverpool will be looking for in the transfer window.

Why Amadou Onana is the perfect midfield transfer for Liverpool this summer

What Liverpool really needs at the moment is a holding midfielder. Wataru Endo has done very well since arriving at the club. However, he is not a viable long-term option for the role.

Liverpool need someone younger, who can play in that position for years to come, and that could be Amadou Onana.

The Belgian international is only 22-years-old but already has a lot of experience playing in the Premier League.

In terms of his style of play, he’s relatively quick and excellent in defensive situations. He reads the game really smartly and has shades of Fabinho in his prime about him.

How much would Onana cost Liverpool and who else wants him?

It definitely wouldn’t be a cheap transfer for Liverpool to bring Onana to the club. Everton will be reluctant to sell to a rival. Especially when it’s been so unprecedented in recent years.

However, Everton is in a vulnerable position and they do need to sell players this summer, which means there is a way for Liverpool to get this deal done.

Although, the Reds won’t be the only team after his services. The Telegraph has reported that Bayern Munich are also interested in Onana, who is valued at around £60m by Everton.
