'Convinced': 45-year-old 'top' manager tipped to be a success at Liverpool if he is appointed

One potential Liverpool managerial candidate has been tipped to succeed at the club if he was appointed.

It’s impossible to predict what’s going on at Liverpool right now. Everyone thought Ruben Amorim was destined to be the club’s next manager. But things haven’t panned out that way.

Amorim at this current moment in time seems like an unlikely candidate. Instead, Liverpool have turned towards other options.

Who those options are at this stage we can only speculate. It’s a list that currently includes plenty of names. But there is one who seems to have emerged out of nowhere and who is on a lot of peoples’ lips at the moment.

Arne Slot tipped to succeed at Liverpool

One possible candidate for Liverpool right now could be Arne Slot. The 45-year-old has done a great job at Feyenoord winning the Eredivisie league title there last season.

He’s still relatively young but players an exciting brand of football, and he’s now been tipped to succeed at Liverpool.

Speaking on Ziggo Sport as per FC Updates, both Wim Jonk and Marco van Basten – two iconic names in Dutch football – have backed Slot to do well at Liverpool.

“He has given Feyenoord a face,” Jonk said.

“Just like Peter Bosz does now at PSV, and Erik ten Hag years ago at Ajax. Arne has made great strides, so in that respect I would like it. Especially at a club like Liverpool, which is of course a bit like the Feyenoord of England with the attacking football they play there.”

Marco van Basten agreed.

“I hope he stays in the Netherlands for a long time, because it is an enrichment for Dutch football. He can really go anywhere: Bayern Munich, Liverpool… I am really convinced of that.”

“I am convinced he can do it anywhere. I’ve spoken to him a few times, and he handles the player groups very well. He is of course also very well versed tactically. He can explain his ideas well, he is calm and intelligent. As far as I am concerned, he is really a top trainer,” Van Basten added.

Who is Arne Slot?

Slot was a relatively unremarkable football player who played for various mid-table Eredivisie sides. But as a manager he has achieved great things with AZ Alkmaar before moving onto Feyenoord.

During his time at the club, he has led Feyenoord not only to a league title but the final of the UEFA Conference League, won the cup this season and was voted Manager of the Season twice in the Eredivisie.

Based on that resume, he certainly would not be a bad appointment for Liverpool.
