Report: Arsenal are now thinking about signing £40m player who had a bust-up with Declan Rice this season

Arsenal are looking to bolster their midfield this summer.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of potential options in that position such as Douglas Luiz and Martin Zubimendi.

However, now, an option within the Premier League seems to be coming into the fray.

Indeed, according to The Telegraph, Arsenal are considering a move for a midfielder from one of their Premier League rivals.

Arsenal considering move for Bruno Guimaraes

According to this report, Arsenal are keen on signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.

The Brazilian has been one of the top performers in the Premier League in recent times, and it’s no surprise to hear that he’s caught Arsenal’s eye.

In fact, Arsenal were keen on the £40m man years ago before he’d even joined Newcastle, and now, they’re once again looking at him.

Guimaraes has a £100m release clause that kicks in this summer, so while this deal would be very expensive, it could be easy to do.

Bruno Guimaraes at Arsenal

Bruno Guimaraes would be absolutely brilliant for Arsenal, but if he were to join the Gunners, he may have some apologising to do.

Indeed, during Newcastle’s win over Arsenal earlier this season, Guimaraes was at the centre of plenty of controversy.

There was more than one incident that led to tempers flaring at St James’ Park, and Guimaraes was at the centre of it.

At one point, Guimaraes got shirty with Declan Rice, shoving the midfielder and leaving a bit of a mark on his neck.

Of course, footballers often have short memories and bygones can be bygones, but it would be rather ironic if Arsenal’s midfield partnership next season was two players who were at each other’s throats earlier this year.

Regardless, this is a very intriguing rumour and it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.
