Hollywood star Hugh Jackman is back in full effect with a highly anticipated movie in which he reprises a fan-favorite role. The public, who have deemed the upcoming film the "biggest movie of the summer," has shared their reactions.
The public has reached a consensus concerning what they believe will be the most popular blockbuster of the summer after the release of its trailer. Based on the poll, fans of Marvel and iconic actor Hugh Jackman are in for a big treat.
Jackman is set to star as his beloved character Wolverine from the "X-Men" franchise in what is arguably one of the most anticipated movies of 2024.
Concerning the overall sentiment toward the upcoming movie, fans can hardly wait to watch it on the big screen when it gets released. "This will be the biggest movie of the summer," boasted an admirer.
Another excited fan exclaimed, "Yaaassss!!! Finally a good old fashioned expensive, high production, funny, action packed Hollywood blockbuster! Where have these been for the last few years?!"
"The only film I'm excitedly waiting for this year!! 😍 CANNOT WAIT!!" swooned an Instagrammer. Like the trailer, photos of the Australian heartthrob dressed in character have sparked an array of reactions online.
"No way? He is? IT'S CRAZY," wrote a fan who couldn't believe Jackman will be starring as Wolverine again. "He is so jacked, man," praised one fan. Similarly, another gushed, "Hugh Jacked-Man 💪," while someone else marveled, "Hugh is huge 💪."
Although Jackman received a lot of praise, others felt differently. "Why did they not give him the wolverine hair[?]" questioned a social media user.
In response to this, another user answered, "Cause it's disgusting and not the vibe." Agreeing with the user's disdain for the Wolverine haircut, another person asserted, "Not with that hair."
The film is so hugely sought after that even non-Marvel fans have expressed their delight. "I don’t even like avenger movies and I think this looks great!" stated another Instagrammer.
Without further ado, we now introduce the movie on everybody's lips: "Deadpool & Wolverine." Expected to be released in July of this year, "Deadpool & Wolverine" sees Jackman co-star alongside revered actor Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool.
According to the trailer and the plot summary, the film follows the pair as they join forces to defeat a common enemy that they have. Wolverine crosses paths with Deadpool while recovering from injuries.
As if the excitement of two iconic actors teaming up for one legendary film was not enough, reports confirm that famous actress Jennifer Garner will appear in the movie too.
She will reprise her role as Elektra from the movies "Daredevil" and "Elektra." This move is in line with the fact that "Deadpool & Wolverine" is set to make use of what is known as "the multiverse."
With this element, Deadpool is expected to visit different movie timelines. This is a result of Disney now owning a group of comic book characters that were previously owned by 20th Century Fox.
The news concerning "Deadpool & Wolverine" comes after Jackman announced his retirement from the role a few years ago. "The Greatest Showman" talent had repeatedly mentioned his Wolverine retirement during the "Logan" press tour.
As fate would have it, what changed his mind regarding deciding against retiring the character was a 2016 screening of "Deadpool." A media outlet reported in 2022 that Jackman had seen "Deadpool" before filming "Logan," but had already made the announcement by then.
Adding another layer of intrigue, Reynolds, who is said to be over the moon about the collaboration, had reportedly pleaded with Jackman about doing the movie for some time.
However, it was not until August 2022 that Jackman agreed to his request. "I think, actually, he'd given up. I think it was a big shock to him. There was a massive pause, and then he said, 'I can’t believe the timing of this,'" disclosed Jackman about the ordeal.
Jackman had rung Reynolds up while he was on a family holiday to tell him the good news. It just so happened that Reynolds had already set up a meeting with Marvel and Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios.
"I'm thrilled [...] To get to be on set with one of my closest friends each and every day is a dream come true. But to do it with these two iconic characters side by side, that's beyond our wildest dreams," gushed Reynolds.
The close friends then went on to make the announcement in a joint video in September 2022, which amassed over 10 million views.
After posting the video, Hugh Jackman told a media outlet how he had already started bulking up for the film. He had already been losing 1,500 calories a night from his vigorous performance in "The Music Man" on Broadway.
While speaking to a media outlet, he humorously apologized to his cast, his dresser, and his then-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, for the effects of the "protein shakes" he was consuming.
His intense fitness regimen led to several wardrobe malfunctions during his run on Broadway. "The other night, I could hear the Velcro go creaking and actually popped open. I've split two pairs of pants," Jackman previously revealed.
With the Broadway artist's latest film being mere months away, the world awaits in eager anticipation to see possibly the greatest superhero crossover of the year.
