Ferrari to have special livery with shades of blue for Miami GP

Ferrari have said that they will unveil a special livery featuring two historic shades of blue for the Formula One Miami Grand Prix on May 5.

The design will mark the 70th anniversary of Ferrari's presence in North America, featuring the Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino shades.

Azzurro La Plata, a lighter shade of blue that act as the national racing colour of Argentina, is a reference to the colour worn by legendary Ferrari driver Alberto Ascari during his most successful seasons in F1.

Ascari became Ferrari's first world champion, winning the title in 1952 and 1953.

The same colour was also seen in Ferrari drivers' racing suits in the 1960s and Niki Lauda's overall during his first season with the Italian outfit.

Azzurro Dino, meanwhile, is a deeper shade which was also favoured by several drivers in the past.

The special livery is to be revealed in Florida in the build-up to the Miami race, but a launch date is yet to be announced.
