Pilot injured after small plane crashes following takeoff at N.J. airport

A pilot suffered a minor injury following a small plane crash Monday in Burlington County, officials said.

The single-engine Beechcraft Sierra crashed “for unknown reasons” shortly after taking off from South Jersey Regional Airport in Lumberton at about 5:15 p.m., the Federal Aviation Administration said.

Only the pilot was aboard, the FAA said in a statement.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.

Video from 6abc.com shows the plane upright in a grassy area.
