‘Incredible’ £50m man could be Arsenal’s best signing this summer, and yet no is talking about it

There’s a few different directions Arsenal could go in when it comes to recruiting players to improve Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer.

First of all, Edu Gaspar could target a new striker, someone who is known for the consistency of their goalscoring, a ‘proper’ number nine.

The scenario would likely see one of Dusan Vlahovic or Viktor Gyokeres arrive, strikers the club have followed for a long while.

Alternatively, Arsenal could recruit a winger to add goals, someone who can provide long-term competition for Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

Perhaps Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams could be the candidate in that incident, a young talent who could replace either Leandro Trossard or Reiss Nelson.

And then finally there’s the idea that Arsenal could recruit a new number six, a more mobile version of Jorginho.

Thomas Partey could be that man if it wasn’t for his consistent injury issues.

But with those considered, Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi or Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes could be perfect.

There’s not a bad signing listed above – but there’s certainly an alternative that no one is talking about.

Eberechi Eze could be a statement signing for Arsenal this summer, a player who can do it all

Arsenal are thought to have looked at players from Crystal Palace, the likes of Marc Guehi and Michael Olise, two excellent profiles.

But it’s Eberechi Eze who could transform their midfield, playing as the club’s new left-sided number eight.

In this scenario, Declan Rice would remain in the pivot, playing to his best strengths as a number six.

Eze has been ‘incredible’ for Palace at times this season, and with no disrespect to his current club, he probably wouldn’t still be there if it weren’t for his previous Achilles injury.

The £50m-rated midfielder plays at his own tempo, he’s got that maverick type quality that Arsenal are missing at times.

Bukayo Saka has that magical touch as well, but it’s so hard to come by in today’s game.

And should Eberechi Eze ever make the move to north London, he would be perfect for European nights at the Emirates.

Although their respective seasons have tailed off a little, both Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus have come alive in the Champions League this season.

And Eberechi Eze could do exactly the same at a bigger club, especially under Mikel Arteta’s guidance.

Arsenal are thought to have a considerable warchest this summer, and spending a large proportion of it on Eze definitely wouldn’t be ill-advised.

All that being said, Arsenal have been told they’ve got an opportunity to sign a different attacking midfielder this summer.
