'He can be one': Journalist says 'lightning' £52m player could leave after Arsenal show interest

Arsenal could now have been handed some encouraging news given their interest in signing a new striker this coming summer.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side definitely still edge things in terms of experience and trophy-winning know-how, but Arsenal have improved no end.

It’s rare that any side will boast a stronger xG and xGA in the same league as Man City, a barometer of Arsenal’s title credentials.

However, doubts remain in regards to this team getting over the line, as was evidenced against Aston Villa recently.

Perhaps the final piece of the puzzle still remains to be added, something Arsenal could address by signing a striker in the summer.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney no longer seems to be in the reckoning, but long-standing interest in Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic has remained.

And to that end, Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale has now been providing an update on the possibility of the Serbian striker leaving the club.

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic could leave this summer after Arsenal show interest

Mirko Di Natale shared his update via Calciomercato and confirmed that the ‘lightning‘ striker wants to stay at Juventus, but Arsenal’s interest was waiting otherwise.

He explained: “His will is to remain 1000% at Juventus. Giuntoli is making these one-year renewals with a reduction in salary.

“A strategy that not only concerns Vlahovic, but also other players such as Federico Chiesa who can be an option for Roma.

“I know that the contacts are positive and there are good chances of a conclusion like for Vlahovic for whom Arsenal are showing strong interest from England.

“Juve and Vlahovic will have to find an agreement and ensure that both parties are satisfied.

“If they don’t reach an agreement within the summer window, Vlahovic can enter Juve’s transfer window and ensure that he can be one of those exits that Giuntoli has in mind this summer.”

Therefore, Arsenal’s interest in the £52m-striker may prevail as a bit of a waiting game this summer, perhaps a player who shouldn’t be considered the club’s number one target.

Would Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes be a better signing anyway?

Of course, there is still the possibility that Arsenal don’t chase a new striker at all, and invest their money elsewhere.

Kai Havertz will be hoping to prove his merits as Arsenal’s go-to false nine against his old club Chelsea tonight.

The German is currently doing a better job of leading the team in comparison to Gabriel Jesus, who offers a much different skill-set.

But with Kai Havertz playing as the number nine, it affords Mikel Arteta an opportunity to add another midfielder to his XI.

And although Jorginho or Thomas Partey seem likely to start as the club’s six this evening, Bruno Guimaraes would be a huge upgrade next season.

The Newcastle United star has now been linked with a move to the Emirates, and could be a really astute signing.

Although, Darren Bent did just confess that he believes Arsenal should prioritise a different deal instead.
