Report: 'Powerful' Inter Miami player could now return to action ahead of schedule

Inter Miami could have one of their key players back in action ahead of schedule having picked up an injury in recent weeks.

The Herons have been plagued by injuries for the majority of the season from Lionel Messi missing a month due to a hamstring problem to Facundo Farias sitting out the entire year after picking up an ACL injury in pre-season.

With Jordi Alba, Federico Redondo and Leonardo Campana also out on the treatment table, Inter Miami’s list of absentees is almost as impressive as the players who Tata Martino actually has available to call upon in this weekend’s clash against the New England Revolution.

Yet there is some positive injury news.

Diego Gomez could return from injury for Inter Miami early

According to ABC, Diego Gomez could be back ahead of schedule for Inter Miami after spraining his ankle on the weekend against Nashville SC, with the midfielder expected to be out for at least six weeks.

However, as per the report, there’s a chance that the 21-year-old could be match fit for Inter Miami ahead of the Copa America, giving the Herons some hope that Gomez won’t be out for the entire six weeks.

Lauded as a ‘powerful’ midfielder, Gomez returning to Inter Miami ahead of schedule will be massive for the Flordia franchise given how important the midfielder is to Martino’s plans, with the youngster thriving this season.

Yet with the Copa America and the Olympics to consider this summer, Inter Miami won’t want to rush Gomez back, with the midfielder in need of making a full recovery before returning to action.

Gomez needs to be patient with his recovery

Having started the season so well alongside the greatest of all time in Messi, there will be an eagerness from Gomez to return to action as soon as possible having thrived with Inter Miami this year.

Yet if the 21-year-old wants the best chance of success after returning from this injury, Gomez will need to be patient and go through the required processes to get back to his best, with a summer return firmly on the cards for the midfielder.

Indeed, Gomez will be a big boost for Inter Miami when he returns in the coming weeks, and the Herons will hope the youngster can return ahead of schedule after news that the Paraguayan could be back on the pitch earlier than expected.
