'Sensational' manager has given Liverpool more proof they should hire him and not Amorim last night - opinion

Liverpool are keeping everyone guessing with who will be their manager next season.

The Reds have just five games remaining of Jurgen Klopp’s almost nine-year reign at the club. A change is nigh.

Despite the close proximity to the end of the season though, nothing appears to be imminent in terms of a new appointment. Ruben Amorim had seemed like an outstanding candidates, but reports from last night suggest he’s no longer a genuine contender.

In his stead, reports this morning pushed Liverpool’s interest in Brentford’s Thomas Frank. However, the 50-year-old would be an underwhelming replacement for Klopp.

Other candidates also remain on the table. But we’re urging the Reds to be bold and hire one of Europe’s most interesting up-and-coming managers. He once again showed his quality with an impressive win on Monday night.

Thiago Motta hands Liverpool more proof

In our opinion, the three most exciting young coaches in Europe at the moment are Xabi Alonso, Amorim and Bologna’s Thiago Motta.

Motta has reportedly been spoken about as a contender by Liverpool and is out of contract at the end of the season.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Juventus lead the way for his signature, but we think that the Reds must now do what they can to disrupt that from happening.

There aren’t too many options it would make sense for Liverpool to go for over Amorim. The 39-year-old is about to win the second league title of his managerial career and looks ready for a step up.

But Motta would be one who should excite the fanbase. Arguably performing at a higher level than Amorim, in Serie A, the 41-year-old has his team fourth in the table. Bologna are currently two places and eight points ahead of Atalanta. As Liverpool recently found out, they’re a pretty handy side.

So too are Roma, who Motta took his team to face last night. Having qualified for the Europa League last four, the capital side had just one loss from the last 13 games. But Bologna put them to the sword, winning 3-1. Liverpool should have been taking note.

Why should Liverpool hire Thiago Motta

Obviously, Liverpool would not hire any manager at all on the back of one good result. But the truth is that Bologna have been over-performing and picking up brilliant results all season long.

This should appeal to FSG, who are used to having to come up against sides with bigger resources. Motta has already proven he can do that.

His team weren’t even especially troubled last night. Travelling to the Stadio Olimpico is never easy, but with Roma on an upward curve under Daniele De Rossi and only one place below Bologna in fifth, it was a big game.

Motta and his team saw them off though, and now look destined to be in the Champions League next season.

Journalist Graeme Bailey called Motta ‘sensational’ when exclusively telling us Liverpool might well appoint him last week. Now we’re seeing why.
